Training with Power with Angie Sturtevant
Whether you have a power meter, are thinking of getting a power meter or have no idea what a power meter is, this seminar is for you…..as producing power is the key factor in making the bike go! Training with power ensures the most basic principle of training is met; that is “when a specific workload is placed on the body, there is adaptation specific to that stress on the body” So, in order for training to be effective, it must be specific to the demands of the activity or event”. Simply put, your training MUST duplicate the demands of the sport. To achieve that goal, you need to measure those demands to quantify the true workload and then mimic those specific demands in training. The PowerTap is the tool that provides that direct measurement, quantifying the wattage you produce to pedal the bike. While many utilize the heart rate monitor to indicate workload, realize that heart rate is a physiological response to the workload, but not the workload itself. The PowerTap MEASURES the work and heart rate MONITORS the response!
